The Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee is responsible for guiding the preparation of Comprehensive Plan. The Steering Committee consists of ten Brighton citizens with diverse backgrounds and interests, four who also serve on Town volunteer boards, and is augmented by liaisons from various organizations in Brighton.

Members of the Steering Committee are appointed by the Town Board.
 
Work is conducted in meetings of the full committee and in focus groups formed to investigate and report on selected components of the plan.

The Steering Committee meetings, held monthly or twice-monthly, are an important source of public comment as the plan has progresses. Public forums begin every meeting, and numerous formal presentations are made by interest groups, neighborhood groups, and developers.
