Assessment Review

The Assessor’s office accepts informal assessment review requests annually from August 1st through December 31st. A form is available in the Assessor’s office or you may simply write a letter to the Assessor—please make sure you include your phone number and information about the property and why you feel the assessment is not proper.

All informal review changes are for the next roll and are not retroactive.

The formal reviews are conducted annually on Grievance day—the 4th Tuesday of each May. The Tentative Assessment Roll is filed each May 1. May 1 marks the beginning of the formal review process. A New York State Office of Real Property Services Complaint Form RP-524 is required. We have provided a link to the form on the Assessor’s home page. The complaint will also be available at the Assessor’s office on May 1 and must be filed in hard copy format at the Assessor’s office on or before 8:00PM on Grievance Day—the fourth Tuesday in May.

**GRIEVANCE APPLICATIONS CAN NOT BE FILED ELECTRONICALLY**

Please call the Assessor’s office at (585) 784-5215 if you have any questions.
